The location is convenient for me and the wait time is just too small. Above allnthey show and explain what can be done with clinical know how.

Twice now I have been told I needed over $1k of work I didn't actually need. It was weird because my car has never given me an issue. I used to go here for oil changes but stopped even that a few years ago as they were incredibly rude about a headlight repair. I urgently needed an inspection and oil change a few months ago and they told me I needed a ton of work. Got it done elsewhere for $1k less. Then I went to get another routine service and they said I needed $2k worth of work because it was "making a lot of noise". I was charged $150 for the assessment. Got a second opinion and they said the car was totally fine. Tried to charge $80 for an engine air filter replacement, including 20 minutes of labor. I did this without any tools by myself and it took 2 minutes. Cabin sir filter was 30 minutes and $100 total. This was in reality harder. It took me 15 minutes to DIY. When I went back more recently I thought someone had had a lobotomy because their report was so clear and they explained things nicely to me and others. So not be fooled! They will grift you. They also gave me someone else's keys once.

Amazingly honest and nice folks. You can trust their estimates.

My experience with their auto service was only after two failed inspections. The first failure was due to a crack in the front bumper which they offered to repair at their body shop up the road. They originally quoted me a number around $1,000, which I had to interrogate to find out that the primary cost was paint matching. I then asked for just the part and installation, which was a somewhat reasonable price, though I'm sure I could've done this just as easily at home, and I wish this had all been communicated to me beforehand. The second instance was a leaking exhaust, for which they quoted me $900 for the best case repair involving primarily welding and no new parts. I later found an exhaust shop in quincy that did it for $150, which was the price of their diagnostics alone. If the inflated price was simply because they didn't specialize in exhaust repairs, I would've appreciated the disclosure, or an honest recommendation that I go to another shop rather than quoting me $900 for a $150 job. Aside from the misleading pricing on two counts, there is a general lack of professionalism: arguing within earshot of the waiting area, poor customer service skills, and a general inability to properly communicate inspection failures and reasonable next steps. There are certainly employees to which this critique does not apply, but my experience as a whole over the past year has been negative regardless.

every one working at A-Z auto is wonderful. Competent, helpful, informed. They all are happy working there and have been so for many years. Fix the carf on time and always ready for advice and counsel.

tl;dr: - Poor timelines and communication - Helpful advice regarding inspection and issues I took my car in on Wednesday for a repair and inspection. Aside from the initial communication about the inspection report, the communication about timelines has been quite poor. I understand the instinct, but they repeatedly gave me overly optimistic timelines and did not update me when they were not able to meet those timelines they set themselves. I had to call them to get an updated timeline, and then they would have to delay it again (which I had to call about, time and time again). The fix I needed on the car was relatively complicated so a longer timeline ultimately makes sense, but I would have been happier had that been communicated from the start. They were helpful when I wanted advice about how long I could delay a fix for one of the issues they highlighted in the inspection report—friendly service overall. I recommend they revisit training for whoever is on the phone to set more realistic expectations for what the the workload of the mechanics is and what timelines they are able to realistically deliver.

Excellent service done in a timely manner! Everyone was kind and knowledgeable and kept me update to date on the happenings with my car. I have been a loyal customer and highly recommend AZ Auto

Thank you Caroline for the 5 star rating! We appreciate your continued loyalty and look forward to dealing with you more in the future. Safe travels & happy motoring!

After being a customer here for the past 3–4 years for routine maintenance and inspections, I never expected to have an experience this frustrating. We dropped our car off Saturday morning around 10:30 a.m. and were told we would receive a text and email with the inspection results and estimated repair cost. We waited all day. Around 4:30 p.m., I called to check on it, only to find out they had already closed. Apparently, no one thought it was important to mention that my car would be staying there overnight. So, because of their lack of communication, I spent the entire weekend without my car, was essentially stranded, and had to miss plans I had already made. Not because there was some major unexpected repair taking days to complete—but because apparently no one thought to pick up the phone and tell me they weren't returning my vehicle. I received the estimate Sunday morning and immediately responded. I even drove down there, only to find out they were closed until Monday. Monday morning came and went. No response to my email. No response to my phone call. Finally, around 2:30 p.m., I called again. And this is where the customer service really took a turn. Instead of an apology or even an acknowledgment that keeping someone's car all weekend without telling them might be, you know, inconvenient, I was told I should have told them when I dropped the car off that I needed it back that day. Apparently, when you drop your car off at 10:30 on a Saturday, you are now expected to specifically announce that you would like to have your car back sometime before Monday. Good to know. They also told me the website references them being closed on Sundays, but it also said they are closed on Saturdays which is not true. So not much of a valuable source. I was also told I should have called earlier Saturday to find out what was happening. Because apparently the customer is responsible for chasing down the service department all day to find out whether their own vehicle is being returned. Meanwhile, I still haven't gotten a satisfactory explanation for the actual repair issue. They replaced my muffler in 2023, and now, only about 15,000 miles later, I'm being told it needs to be replaced again. I asked a very reasonable question: Why? Was the part defective? Was there an issue with the installation? What caused it to fail so quickly? I still don't have a clear answer. And then there's the $75 inspection fee. I was repeatedly reminded that they were doing me a "courtesy" by not charging the full $150 inspection fee. After being left without my vehicle for the weekend and receiving essentially zero communication, that "courtesy" didn't feel particularly generous. I completely understand that repairs take time. I understand that businesses get busy. I understand that sometimes a vehicle can't be finished when expected. What I don't understand is why communicating that to a customer seems to be so difficult. A simple phone call Saturday saying, “We won't be able to get this back to you today, so we'll need to keep it until Monday,” would have prevented this entire situation. Instead, I was left without my car all weekend, missed plans, had to chase them down for information, and then was told that the whole situation was essentially my fault because I didn't specifically ask for my car back that day. I've been a loyal customer for years, but this experience has seriously changed my opinion. The repair itself is one issue. The way a customer is treated when something goes wrong tells you much more about a business. If you value your time, your transportation, and basic communication from the people working on your vehicle, I would think twice before using this service department.

Erika, we’re sorry that you were frustrated with the communication regarding your vehicle over the weekend. We agree that better communication regarding the vehicle remaining at the shop would have avoided that frustration, and we have addressed that internally. However, we do want to clarify some important facts regarding the repair history and the current condition of the vehicle. Our involvement with the exhaust system in 2023 was a NAPA warranty claim that we assisted you with. The vehicle had approximately 258,815 miles at that time. During this recent visit, the vehicle had approximately 273,283 miles. Our technician inspected the vehicle and found that the muffler and resonator are rusted and leaking. This is a corrosion-related failure, which is very common with exhaust systems in New England due to road salt, moisture, age, and environmental exposure. We did not find evidence that the current condition was caused by defective workmanship or an installation issue. We also performed a complete multi-point inspection and provided you with the findings and estimates for all recommended repairs, including the exhaust system, right front axle, front struts/alignment, filters, and other maintenance items. Regarding the $75 inspection charge, our normal inspection charge is $150, which we reduced by 50%. More importantly, the $75 is credited back toward any repair work that you approve with us. A customer is only responsible for the inspection charge when they choose not to approve any of the recommended work. If you approve repairs with us, the $75 you paid will be applied toward that work. We certainly could have communicated better on Saturday regarding when the vehicle would be available, and we apologize for that portion of your experience. At the same time, we stand behind our technician’s inspection and diagnosis. The exhaust system requires replacement because it is rusted and leaking, not because of a failure of our workmanship. We have been serving this community for many years and take our reputation and our customers’ concerns seriously. We always welcome the opportunity to discuss our findings directly and explain exactly what was found on a vehicle.

I make appointments but when I went to here he told me we don’t have available time know and leave car here Rainy day Not good experience

Hi Nemat, we’re sorry your visit didn’t meet your expectations. Our online appointments are scheduled as service check-in appointments, which allows us to inspect the vehicle and place it into our workflow. Because this appointment was made at 8:22am for a 9:00am arrival the same morning, we were unable to begin work immediately upon your arrival. We explained that we could complete the service while waited in approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, or you were welcome to leave the vehicle with us. We understand you were hoping for immediate service, and we’re sorry we couldn’t accommodate that request. We appreciate your feedback and will continue working to better communicate how our appointment process works. We hope you’ll give us another opportunity to earn your business. Happy motoring!

Out of the many experiences I’ve had with auto centers over the years, this is by far the most professional, convenient, and well rounded place and I say that wholeheartedly. In the past I’ve had nothing but negativity, below average customer service, ridiculous pricing and too many mistakes. The two people I had the pleasure of working with, Wender and Tony, whom were by far the most knowledgeable and respectable individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in this field. I highly recommend using their services! You will not be disappointed!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It means a lot to hear that Wender and Tony provided the level of professionalism, knowledge, and customer service we strive to deliver every day. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to them. Thank you for trusting A-Z Auto Center with your vehicle, and we look forward to helping you again in the again whenever you need us. Safe travels and happy motoring!

I’ve been bringing my cars to this shop for almost 10 years, so I’ve seen a lot of change over time. The addition of Wender and Christian has honestly been one of the best things to happen to this location. These two have completely elevated the experience. They’re thorough, communicative, and actually take the time to explain what’s going on with your vehicle without making you feel like you don’t know what you’re talking about. Every time I come in, they remember me, they’re upfront about pricing, and the work gets done right the first time. As a longtime customer, it means a lot to see this shop continuing to improve. Wender and Christian are a huge reason I’ll keep coming back for years to come. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much, Mara, for your continued trust and support over the past 10 years! Reviews like yours mean the world to us. We’re especially grateful for your recognition of Wender and Christian, they truly care about providing honest, thorough, and transparent service, and we’ll be sure to share your kind words with them. Thank you for allowing us to earn your business over the years. We look forward to serving you for many more years to come. Happy motoring and safe travels.

Very competent and HONEST. They'll recommend only the work you need. Example, I came in for a tire rotation. They recommended a better rotation pattern for a 5-tire set, and also checked the brake pads.

During the Noreaster last year, my older Subaru Outback needed immediate help during a college visit to Boston. Billy was so kind to my daughter and me and immediately reviewed my wonderful car and helped to get us back on the road. Without his help, we would have missed an important college visit and not made it back home to Virginia safely. Many thanks for your kindness in a new city and for taking such good care of us. Thank you for your patience too as I only recently found the business card!

Steve

TLDR: Nice staff and decent prices for minor work but dont expect anything to happen in a timely manner. My first visit was to replace brake pads and rotors. I dropped my car off on Friday morning and my car was not ready until closing on Monday. Communication was good but 3 full business days seems excessive. On my second visit, I dropped my car off at 8am on Monday for some exhaust work. I was told it should be done by the end of the day. At noon the following day, I stopped by to check in because I hadn't heard anything and was told it should be done by 2-3pm. I later receive a call that the wrong part was ordered and it would take 2 weeks to get it in. I will be taking my car to another shop that better respects my time.

Hi Brock, thank you for your feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words about our staff and pricing, and we sincerely apologize for delays and inconvenience you experienced during both visits. For your brake service, additional time was needed to complete the work properly and safely, but we understand how frustrating the delay must have been. Regarding your second visit, we also apologize for the incorrect exhaust part being ordered and for not providing more proactive undates throughout the process. At A-Z Auto Center, we always aim to provide accurate repairs and honest communication, and we understand we fell short of your expectations here. Your feedback is important to us and will help us improve our scheduling, parts verification, and customer update process moving forward. We appreciate the opportunity you gave us and wish you the very best going forward. Happy motoring!

Brakes and rotors done —quickly and cost effectively! Great waiting room atmosphere and the techs doing the work made sure everything was done and I am happy with the service. 10/10 stars, will be returning with any other issues in the future!

Thank you Tyler for the 5 star review! We look forward to working with you and servicing your vehicle in the future. Happy motoring!

Amazing experience here, came here for an oil change, inspection and work done on the front end of my car. They do quality work and the staff here is amazing

Rude staff and extremely disorganized. They play trash right wing news tv too.

Came here to replace wipers and a headlight bulb; they had the parts I needed and did the work quickly for a fair price. Their waiting room is clean and comfortable with good wifi. I appreciate that the guy who did the work left driver’s seat in position (not everyone does that 😆) The place modest in appearance - but they did all the small things right.

Thank you Joan for the 5 star rating! We appreciate you choosing A-Z and look forward to your return. Happy motoring!

The WORST!!! Make an appointment you will see!!! Good luck getting your car worked on.

Best Mechanic/Auto Body in Boston I've lived in Boston since 2012 I went through the ringer trying to find a mechanic that not only does quality, reliable work, but more importantly treats you like your "home town" mechanic. Billy changed the game for me. Whether I'm getting an oil change, replacing a cracked tail-light, dealing with a totaled vehicle, purchasing a used vehicle or more recently investigating a full engine recall, Billy and his team will always go above in beyond to do what's best for his customers. I moved from Allston to East Boston 4 years ago and am confident that I will continue to bring my vehicles to Billy over any other Mechanic no matter where I live because I know he's always going to have my back

Great service, professional and thorough. You get an email with literally everything that is wrong with your vehicle, and then it’s up to you if you want to fix just the most important stuff, to save on repairs, or everything. I don’t remember other places having this feature. Could take a bit of time but only because good repairs take time and care. Highly recommend. Location helps too. Plus they have a cheapest gas station so I fill up only at this place. Good stuff, come check it out.

Billy and the mechanics who had to pretty much rebuild the engine on my Toyota Tacoma did an excellent job. The guys were very nice and professional , Billy was a pleasure to deal with, and my truck drives like new!

Will rip you off. Don't bother. Every time you walk into their shoddy office there is a line of people with sad faces. Their expressions speaks volumes. They all realize they are being ripped off and can't do anything about it. Just for inspection they will charge you $75. So you came in with a minor problem, they send you the "estimate" which is not a bad idea, but then they add on services you never asked for or wanted. Beware.

Trevor, we’re sorry to hear you feel this way. We take transparency very seriously and never perform or charge for any work without customer authorization. Our inspection fee is clearly disclosed up front and covers a comprehensive evaluation by a certified technician so customers can make informed decisions. Any recommended services are optional and provided for safety and reliability, not as mandatory charges. We encourage any customer with concerns to contact us directly so we can review their visit and address any misunderstandings. Our goal has always been honest service and clear communication.

Top Notch service team. No job is to big.

I usually don’t write reviews but I felt inspired to do so after my first visit to AZ yesterday. Billy is one of the pleasant people I’ve ever met in my life!!!!!! This seems like an amazing family business that truly cares about you, your car, and your safety… will definitely be going back

My car had a lot of problems, and even the dealership and Firestone couldn’t figure out how to fix them. I decided to take it to A-Z Auto Center, and they repaired everything within a week! I highly recommend them—the mechanics are truly skilled, experienced, and professional.

They are the absolute best! I’ve been there a few times to get work done on various things from engine to windshield wipers motor issues to inspections. Time and time again, they are the loveliest people and my go-to guys for any car related issues or inquiry!

What a scam artists these people are. Charging for a check up??? No thanks. Than telling me I can't have my car until I pay for this sham inspection. I will tell everyone i know how horrible your customer service is under new management, supposedly.

Garbage service. You will get an email with everything that is wrong with your car, even if you didn't ask for it. And they will make you pay for this list of wrong things in your car, whether you fixed anything or not. Stay Away. Save money and your dignity

Save your money and headache. Every time I go into this service I see a line of customers in the office pleading to be reasonable, not to overcharge, to give them back the car etc. The horror I have experienced needs several pages of explanation but trust me it will be a good read. Basically you will pay through your nose for stuff you never wanted fixed, and when you try to get to the bottom of the problem you will hear all kinds of excuses starting from Mr Audy is not here at the moment, or Mr William Audy is spending time with his family. ( Mr Will Audy is the owner of this disaster on 1555 Commonwealth Ave, Brighton) Save your time and dignity and go somewhere else.

This morning, I went to this repair shop for a vehicle inspection. They first told me the exhaust system had a leaking issue, but after I said it is hybrid engine so it sounds fine to me, and at the end the exhaust system passed the inspection. In the end, they claimed there was a problem with the steering and suspension, but I had just done a wheel alignment a few days ago, and there were no issues with the control arm or suspension. The steering is also working fine. I believe they are trying to scam me. The shop also wanted to charge me $150(Their hourly pay) for a diagnostic fee per hour, and if I didn’t get the repair done there, I would have to pay that fee. I think $150 per hour is too high. I want to share this experience here so others know what happened to me.

I had today the most amazing tire service! My tire was leaking air...I came in...and yes!! 15 minutes later I was out and wasn't even late to my appointment! Just amazing! And the price was right ...they were so nice...so efficient...the waiting room was lit up and clean! The bathroom as well! I'm hooked! Hopefully I wouldn't need them but please if you gave an issue...visit them! They are great!!🙏

Stopped by today for an inspection and they took care of me in no time at all. While I was waiting I saw some pricing for their services and they were reasonable. I spoke with one of their techs before and after the inspection and I wish I could remember his name because he was very professional and helpful

You'll get your stuff fixed, but theres going to be a careless attitude from everyone including the receptionist. Whats worse is the premium price you'll pay for such an exceptional service. Oh, and if they need to find something in your car, dont worry, they wont ask for the key to your wheel or anything. They'll just toss everything until they find it. Oh, the best part is that they'll toss the broken part on your car floor regardless of whether it's leaking. Greatest service ever 😒
