I went to auto shop for tire change . And I got the best price deals on tire and a great after service. Thanks Billy , Tony and all the great team members. The new waiting rooms look very interesting and very comforting .
Out of the many experiences I’ve had with auto centers over the years, this is by far the most professional, convenient, and well rounded place and I say that wholeheartedly. In the past I’ve had nothing but negativity, below average customer service, ridiculous pricing and too many mistakes. The two people I had the pleasure of working with, Wender and Tony, whom were by far the most knowledgeable and respectable individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting in this field. I highly recommend using their services! You will not be disappointed!
I’ve been bringing my cars to this shop for almost 10 years, so I’ve seen a lot of change over time. The addition of Wender and Christian has honestly been one of the best things to happen to this location. These two have completely elevated the experience. They’re thorough, communicative, and actually take the time to explain what’s going on with your vehicle without making you feel like you don’t know what you’re talking about. Every time I come in, they remember me, they’re upfront about pricing, and the work gets done right the first time. As a longtime customer, it means a lot to see this shop continuing to improve. Wender and Christian are a huge reason I’ll keep coming back for years to come. Highly recommend!
Very competent and HONEST. They'll recommend only the work you need. Example, I came in for a tire rotation. They recommended a better rotation pattern for a 5-tire set, and also checked the brake pads.
During the Noreaster last year, my older Subaru Outback needed immediate help during a college visit to Boston. Billy was so kind to my daughter and me and immediately reviewed my wonderful car and helped to get us back on the road. Without his help, we would have missed an important college visit and not made it back home to Virginia safely. Many thanks for your kindness in a new city and for taking such good care of us. Thank you for your patience too as I only recently found the business card!
Steve
TLDR: Nice staff and decent prices for minor work but dont expect anything to happen in a timely manner. My first visit was to replace brake pads and rotors. I dropped my car off on Friday morning and my car was not ready until closing on Monday. Communication was good but 3 full business days seems excessive. On my second visit, I dropped my car off at 8am on Monday for some exhaust work. I was told it should be done by the end of the day. At noon the following day, I stopped by to check in because I hadn't heard anything and was told it should be done by 2-3pm. I later receive a call that the wrong part was ordered and it would take 2 weeks to get it in. I will be taking my car to another shop that better respects my time.
Always the BEST place to bring my car for any and all services! Excellent work, fast, pleasant staff and mechanics and reasonable prices..A++++++
Thank you Paula, for your kind words and 5 star rating. We’re proud to provide fast, high quality service at fair prices, and we truly appreciate your trust in A-Z. We look forward to servicing you again. Happy motoring!
Fantastic shop. Quality work at a great value. I highly recommend.
Thank you Karsten for the 5 star review. Happy motoring.
Brakes and rotors done —quickly and cost effectively! Great waiting room atmosphere and the techs doing the work made sure everything was done and I am happy with the service. 10/10 stars, will be returning with any other issues in the future!
Thank you Tyler for the 5 star review! We look forward to working with you and servicing your vehicle in the future. Happy motoring!
Amazing experience here, came here for an oil change, inspection and work done on the front end of my car. They do quality work and the staff here is amazing
Rude staff and extremely disorganized. They play trash right wing news tv too.
Came here to replace wipers and a headlight bulb; they had the parts I needed and did the work quickly for a fair price. Their waiting room is clean and comfortable with good wifi. I appreciate that the guy who did the work left driver’s seat in position (not everyone does that 😆) The place modest in appearance - but they did all the small things right.
Thank you Joan for the 5 star rating! We appreciate you choosing A-Z and look forward to your return. Happy motoring!
The WORST!!! Make an appointment you will see!!! Good luck getting your car worked on.
Best Mechanic/Auto Body in Boston I've lived in Boston since 2012 I went through the ringer trying to find a mechanic that not only does quality, reliable work, but more importantly treats you like your "home town" mechanic. Billy changed the game for me. Whether I'm getting an oil change, replacing a cracked tail-light, dealing with a totaled vehicle, purchasing a used vehicle or more recently investigating a full engine recall, Billy and his team will always go above in beyond to do what's best for his customers. I moved from Allston to East Boston 4 years ago and am confident that I will continue to bring my vehicles to Billy over any other Mechanic no matter where I live because I know he's always going to have my back

Great service, professional and thorough. You get an email with literally everything that is wrong with your vehicle, and then it’s up to you if you want to fix just the most important stuff, to save on repairs, or everything. I don’t remember other places having this feature. Could take a bit of time but only because good repairs take time and care. Highly recommend. Location helps too. Plus they have a cheapest gas station so I fill up only at this place. Good stuff, come check it out.
Billy and the mechanics who had to pretty much rebuild the engine on my Toyota Tacoma did an excellent job. The guys were very nice and professional , Billy was a pleasure to deal with, and my truck drives like new!
Will rip you off. Don't bother. Every time you walk into their shoddy office there is a line of people with sad faces. Their expressions speaks volumes. They all realize they are being ripped off and can't do anything about it. Just for inspection they will charge you $75. So you came in with a minor problem, they send you the "estimate" which is not a bad idea, but then they add on services you never asked for or wanted. Beware.
Trevor, we’re sorry to hear you feel this way. We take transparency very seriously and never perform or charge for any work without customer authorization. Our inspection fee is clearly disclosed up front and covers a comprehensive evaluation by a certified technician so customers can make informed decisions. Any recommended services are optional and provided for safety and reliability, not as mandatory charges. We encourage any customer with concerns to contact us directly so we can review their visit and address any misunderstandings. Our goal has always been honest service and clear communication.
Top Notch service team. No job is to big.
I usually don’t write reviews but I felt inspired to do so after my first visit to AZ yesterday. Billy is one of the pleasant people I’ve ever met in my life!!!!!! This seems like an amazing family business that truly cares about you, your car, and your safety… will definitely be going back
My car had a lot of problems, and even the dealership and Firestone couldn’t figure out how to fix them. I decided to take it to A-Z Auto Center, and they repaired everything within a week! I highly recommend them—the mechanics are truly skilled, experienced, and professional.
They are the absolute best! I’ve been there a few times to get work done on various things from engine to windshield wipers motor issues to inspections. Time and time again, they are the loveliest people and my go-to guys for any car related issues or inquiry!
What a scam artists these people are. Charging for a check up??? No thanks. Than telling me I can't have my car until I pay for this sham inspection. I will tell everyone i know how horrible your customer service is under new management, supposedly.
Garbage service. You will get an email with everything that is wrong with your car, even if you didn't ask for it. And they will make you pay for this list of wrong things in your car, whether you fixed anything or not. Stay Away. Save money and your dignity
Save your money and headache. Every time I go into this service I see a line of customers in the office pleading to be reasonable, not to overcharge, to give them back the car etc. The horror I have experienced needs several pages of explanation but trust me it will be a good read. Basically you will pay through your nose for stuff you never wanted fixed, and when you try to get to the bottom of the problem you will hear all kinds of excuses starting from Mr Audy is not here at the moment, or Mr William Audy is spending time with his family. ( Mr Will Audy is the owner of this disaster on 1555 Commonwealth Ave, Brighton) Save your time and dignity and go somewhere else.
This morning, I went to this repair shop for a vehicle inspection. They first told me the exhaust system had a leaking issue, but after I said it is hybrid engine so it sounds fine to me, and at the end the exhaust system passed the inspection. In the end, they claimed there was a problem with the steering and suspension, but I had just done a wheel alignment a few days ago, and there were no issues with the control arm or suspension. The steering is also working fine. I believe they are trying to scam me. The shop also wanted to charge me $150(Their hourly pay) for a diagnostic fee per hour, and if I didn’t get the repair done there, I would have to pay that fee. I think $150 per hour is too high. I want to share this experience here so others know what happened to me.
I had today the most amazing tire service! My tire was leaking air...I came in...and yes!! 15 minutes later I was out and wasn't even late to my appointment! Just amazing! And the price was right ...they were so nice...so efficient...the waiting room was lit up and clean! The bathroom as well! I'm hooked! Hopefully I wouldn't need them but please if you gave an issue...visit them! They are great!!🙏
Stopped by today for an inspection and they took care of me in no time at all. While I was waiting I saw some pricing for their services and they were reasonable. I spoke with one of their techs before and after the inspection and I wish I could remember his name because he was very professional and helpful
You'll get your stuff fixed, but theres going to be a careless attitude from everyone including the receptionist. Whats worse is the premium price you'll pay for such an exceptional service. Oh, and if they need to find something in your car, dont worry, they wont ask for the key to your wheel or anything. They'll just toss everything until they find it. Oh, the best part is that they'll toss the broken part on your car floor regardless of whether it's leaking. Greatest service ever 😒
completely scammed me, said i needed a $2.2k repair to pass inspection which was absolutely not necessary
They fit me in for an oil change at the end of a busy day, and got it done quickly. Great people.
Decently kind, dropped off car and it took 4 hours for oil change, inspection, and tire rotation for $188 total. Half a mile into my ride home the low oil light came on and dipstick showed I was well below the L line. I went back right after closing time and they went above and beyond accommodating me by adding oil, but there’s now an above and beyond level of oil in the engine since they just guessed for the right amount. Supervisor was understanding and helped fix no questions but just blamed it on a busy day vice take accountability. Just going to write off the oil change and go to a different spot tomorrow because I don’t trust the level anymore and I’m not risking my car’s engine over a $80 oil change. If I ever go again it’d probably be in the morning, not a Friday afternoon. If they were unable to do an oil change I am not sure I can trust the inspection they did. Update: Directional tires put on wrong direction even after I specified to do front-rear. Will see if they redeem at 8am opening the next day both items they wronged me on after I canceled a trip over this.
Hi Derek, I’m really sorry to hear about your experience and that we fell short in multiple areas during your visit. We should have gotten your oil level right the first time, and the fact that you had to come back after closing and still left feeling uncertain means we didn’t meet the standard we set for ourselves. The same goes for the tire rotation and direction; you clearly told us what you wanted, and it wasn’t done correctly. I appreciate that you mentioned our supervisor did try to help, but I agree that accountability matters. I take that responsibility personally, and I’d like to make things right. If you’re willing, I’ll personally check your oil level, correct the tire direction, and reinspect your vehicle at no cost so you can leave here with complete confidence in the work. Please reach out to me directly at the shop so I can arrange it first thing. Your trust is important to us and I’d like the chance to earn it back. Billy Audy, Owner A-Z Auto Center
Great service, good rates for Boston in my opinion. Communicative with me throughout the process of getting my car back from them.
Hi Ben, We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed. We always aim to provide honest and thorough service, and we’d like to better understand what happened during your visit. If there was any confusion or concern, we’re here to help make it right. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at the shop or by phone so we can discuss it further. Happy motoring! Thank you, A-Z Service Department
I am sure these technicians are very good at their job - fixing cars. They unfortunately are terrible at communication, which is just as if not more important to me as a customer. Re: response I came to A-Z Auto center for an emissions test. “Connecticut Emissions test” was the exact request. I was told to wait 25 minutes - sure thing. 45 minutes later - not a peep from them. I get up and only then do they tell me my car is ready. They show me the test result - which I ask if the emissions passed. They said sure sure, just the safety failed. At this point, they had wasted my time by not alerting me when my car was ready, and they had told a small lie. They did not do an emissions test on my vehicle, like I asked. Only when I got home and clarified with the CT DMV did I realize they did not perform an emissions test. The AZ technician on the phone essentially talked me in circles - you can see their response below, none of which I am refuting. I do, however, want to point out that not once did they say “hey, by the way, your car doesn’t need an emissions test according to our system”. That would have saved me an hour and $35. Instead, they did the test and never mentioned that they did not do the emissions test. The technician on the phone claimed no wrongdoing as he is simply going by the system. If you want to take your car here, where the technician admits to just being a conduit for machine-like service, go ahead. For many cases, that’s actually probably a good thing. However, if you want to go to a shop where the technicians think about what the customer actually needs done, look elsewhere. The technicians admitted wrongdoing on the phone, only after I explained to him my perspective as if he was a 5 year old. I literally needed to use an analogy about apples and oranges before he said I was right to be upset. Everyone is doing their best at AZ. I just think the technicians best was not where I was hoping it would be.
Hi Ryan, Thank you for visiting us for your state inspection. We’re sorry to hear you were dissatisfied, and we’d like to clarify what happened for transparency. You came in for a Massachusetts state inspection on out-of-state vehicle. Per RMV guidelines, our inspection must include a safety check - not just an OBD (emissions) scan. Unfortunately, your vehicle was rejected due to visible damage to the rear quarter and bumper, which are safety-related issues. We confirmed with the RMV that your vehicle year (2009) does not require an OBD emissions test, but a full safety inspection is still . While we understand this may have been frustrating, the rules are clear and not within our control. If you’d like to dispute the results, the RMV allows customers to file a complaint directly through their website. We’re always here to help guide you through that process if needed. Happy motoring! Re: response We stand by our technician, who acted professionally and followed protocol. You came in for a Massachusetts state inspection on a vehicle with Connecticut plates. You asked for a “Connecticut emissions test,” but it’s logistically and legally impossible to get a Connecticut state inspection in Massachusetts. As a licensed MA inspection station, we are only authorized to perform Massachusetts inspections- not out-of-state ones. We understand you’re frustrated, but comparing our technician to a “5-year-old” is inappropriate. He acted professionally, communicated clearly, and followed state procedures to the letter. I’m sorry you were confused about what you actually needed and asked for.
Absolutely do not bring your car here!! I wish we had listened to that piece of advice as our car was being taken off the AAA tow truck however we did not listen to the person outside and we are now paying for AAA recommendation to bring it there. We requested a diagnostic on the vandalism re: sugar in the gas tank ONLY. Not only have they not even done that BUT they have also tried to charge for an overall diagnostic of the car. Just so you know anything over $500 in the state of Massachusetts they have to have your signature for approval to do this work and they did not have my signature nor approval. They are totally 100% unprofessional & scam artists. Even trying to charge me an inspection for an un-inspectable car! They’ve been dragging their feet with insurance for WEEKS..have given me several different estimates and nothing adds up. I’ve gone several times to facilitate paying up to the $500 (bc that is legal for them to charge me, after that you must have a SIGNATURE APPROVAL) just to get my car off their property bc I do not trust them AT ALL. We will be suing. Our lawyer is on it. But how unfortunate! It’s shameful the behavior that’s accepted these days. Please do yourself a favor and do not get yourself in the situation I’m currently dealing with. Save yourself the headache and trouble! Good luck 👍🏼 Edit: our claim was NOT denied in fact they were in the verification process and it has been approved. We just do not trust the shop for obvious reasons. They have been rude and disrespectful from the start and lied about notifying us about storage fees. Lied about having a constructive dialogue when we can’t even understand some of the dialect being spoken (and not because we’re ignorant either, it’s on purpose). We have been trying to get our car out for weeks. Meanwhile they keep accruing storage fees holding our car hostage. It’s utterly insane. Now I get to deal with having them do the work because I can’t afford to pay the storage fees to get it out and wondering what they’re going to tamper with because of the situation that has unfolded. This is Boston. SOME (specifically in this business) people are crooked. I’m sorry, but it’s quite obvious what’s going on here. AND it’s quite obvious what’s gonna happen if I keep my car here and that’s OK it’ll just be another claim to deal with. I have every receipt. Stay tuned. And I will be uploading to social media as well. More details to come. Ps. Pembroke Collision is AMAZING. Ben Bastinelli is my friend and the owner and does not charge people storage fees for ridiculousness. I highly recommend them and suggest you seriously take your car there instead. Check out his reviews, comparatively speaking to these ones guys.. Negative review after negative review FOR DISHONEST POLICIES. That’s the first clue you know they’re up to no good.
Hello Bri, We’re sorry to hear about your frustration, and we’d like to clarify a few points for transparency. Your vehicle was towed in by AAA, and you filed a claim with Progressive Insurance. After receiving your car, we completed the initial damage estimate with the insurance, as is standard procedure. At that point, we informed you storage fees would begin accumulating if you chose not to move forward with repairs at our facility. This is a common industry policy, especially given the parking contraints in the city. Unfortunately, your insurance claim was denied, which is a decision made by your insurance provider-not by us. Despite this, we still worked to accommodate your situation as best we could. When you returned to retrieve your vehicle, we explained the outstanding storage charges. We understand that may have been frustrating, but our staff was met with verbal abuse and threats, which we do not tolerate. We are always open to respectful dialogue and finding solutions where possible. We stand by our policies, which are clearly communicated and consistent with standard automotive industry practices. If you have further questions or would like to resolve this matter constructively, we’re happy to speak directly.
I've been an AZ customer for 5 years. As you get with every place, there are ups and downs - everyone has a day where they're not 100%. Their gas prices are good, they have pretty good turn around time with service, and their work is good quality. (Their mini mart is open 24 hours, in case you live in the area and need a late night snack.) But this review is prompted not by the service: it's prompted by their team member, Natalie. She solved a problem for me with such speed and kindness and compassion. She is who I want to help me when I enter an establishment. She is a great employee and I want to make sure she knows it.
Thank you Gillian for the review and for your continued loyalty to our business. We will let Natalie know about your review.
I have been to this place for 3 consecutive years to get oil change and state inspection, but unfortunately my last experience with them makes me decide to no longer come to them for anything in the future. I called on Tuesday for an oil change and state inspection, and the guy on the phone said that I can do a walk in for the inspection, but will need an appointment for oil change, and that the state inspection will be free of charge if done altogether with the oil change. So I asked for an appointment to get both done, and he gave me an appointment on Thursday 1pm. I dropped off the car on Thursday right at 1pm, and left the store thinking the car will be ready for pick up in a few hours. A few hours passed and I haven’t heard anything since then, so I gave them a call at 5pm, only to find out that no one had ever worked on my car. The guy on the phone promised me the car will be ready at 6pm when they close, and when I arrived at the store at 6:10pm, STILL NO ONE HAD EVER TOUCHED ME CAR. I was really angry at that point and asked both guys at the front desk to get the job done before they close. They did the job in 30 minutes and didn’t send me an inspection report until 10pm that night. I only found out once I got home that the inspection sticker wasn’t renewed. I called the store on Saturday 7/5, and found out that the inspection they did wasn’t the state inspection but a multipoint inspection. They asked me for $35 to do a walk in inspection and that’s the point where I decided not to deal with them WHATSOEVER going forward. The oil change costed me $100. Full disclosure— they used to do state inspection for free if you change oil at the same time, but apparently not the case anymore and they were not clear about this change in the first place.
I’ve had nothing but great experiences here! Multiple years of inspection stickers, informing me that I should add my AAA member number to get discounts (when I didn’t know that was a perk), helping with small repairs free of charge and in the immediate moment, informing me of the warranties each services includes, a car wash voucher if they didn’t have time to do that themselves, explaining what the repairs are for/mean in detail - as a young woman I’ve never felt condescended to or deceived about “necessary services”. Really glad to have them in my neighborhood.
